Raymond - A short movie

NYTimes.com has an article about some neuroscientists who, by toggling a light switch,
can set fruit flies a-leaping and mice a-twirling and stop worms in their squiggling tracks.

In a weird co-incidence, The Mill has made a hilarious short movie called ‘Raymond’ (directed by three french directors called ‘Bif’) around the same theme: scientists being able to animate living people.

Well worth the watch and, now that it’s rooted in reality, alot more enjoyable as well.

Good reading and enjoy ‘Raymond’.
It’s in french by the way. With subtitles.

Disney Bets on Film Shorts

Articles — Dom @ 2:05 pm

Business Week has an interesting article, discussing the new Pixar approach of catching hot talent from Film Shorts.

“When Walt Disney Co.’s chief creative officer, John A. It was a big jump for Williams, but Lasseter had liked what he’d seen in Golgo’s Guest, a quirky five-minute short film Williams directed, featuring a lonely Russian soldier visited by a flying saucer.”

N-Sided Quidam v1.2 Review

Articles — Robert @ 10:32 am

nsided.jpgDespite never having used N-Sided Quidam before, I was faced with the overwhelming feeling of deja vu - as if I have somehow used it before. Truth be told, conceptually at least, I wasn’t too far off. By its very design, Quidam is like several different 3D applications rolled up into one. The question remains, is Quidam an invention born of necessity or simply a random compilation of features? To answer this question, we must first understand the role which Quidam attempts to fill.

3ds max 7 Review from a game developer’s perspective

Articles — Dom @ 11:53 pm

As the title of this review suggests; I shall be taking a look at the latest and greatest version of Autodesk’s 3dsmax except this time focusing on the tool from a game developer’s perspective.
